Field Sobriety Test: They are tests in which the NHTSA recognizes three to determine your sobriety, one is the walk and turn, two is the one leg stand, and three is the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus(ie the follow the pen with your eyes). There are other field sobriety tests but they are not recognized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.BAC or Blood Alcohol Content: This is the percentage of alcohol that is in your blood stream. In Tennessee a BAC of .08 is the legal limit at which you can be charged with a Tennessee DUI, whether you are drunk or impaired, if the breathalyzer registers you at .08 or higher you can be charged and convicted of Tennessee DUI.
Tennessee Mandatory Jail Time for 1st Offense DUI: In Tennessee it is now law that you must serve a mandatory 2 days in jail for a first offense Tennessee DUI.
Tennessee DUI Roadblocks: These are checkpoints set up by the police that are legal in Tennessee if all guidelines are followed, so as to not be invalid based on the Constitution of the United States.
Tennessee Dramshop Act: It is the law that places liability on bars for serving intoxicated persons who do harm to other individuals, however in Tennessee the ability to sue a bar is difficult due to the standard of beyond a reasonable doubt that is applied in proving they knowingly served an intoxicated person.
SR 22 Insurance: This is high risk insurance that you must carry in order to get a restricted license after conviction for a Tennessee DUI, if you are permitted to do so.

BUI: Being impaired while operating a boat, the Bac is .08 to be considered boating under the influence in Tennessee.

Tennessee Mandatory Minimum 7 days in jail: In Tennessee if your BAC is at a .20 or higher you are required upon conviction to spend a minimum of 7 days in jail.
Vehicular Assault: A person commits vehicular assault, when as a proximate result of their intoxication as set forth in TCA 55-10-401, he or she recklessly causes serious bodlily injury to another person by operation of a motor vehicle
Reckless Driving: A person who drives any vehicle in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of person or property is guilty of reckless driving.
Implied Consent: In short, anyone who drives in the State of Tennessee has given consent for an officer (if he has reasonable grounds)to ask you to submit to tests, or a test to determine your blood alcohol content, should you refuse this test, you can lose your privilege to drive for up to one year on a first offense DUI charge.
Ignition Interlock Device: It is a device that prevents your vehicle from starting if it detects that your blood alcohol is above a specified amount.
